What if social media was for-people rather than for-profit, what if the majority of social media profits went right back to the users instead of shareholders? That's what we're building. Read more โบ
I'm aiming to develop a native app for iPhones & Android shortly. It's probably a bit confusing right now, why do you and I need another social layer? Why are you and I here?
When this idea first came up back in 2019, social media was going from something fun and innocent to divisive and toxic as big social aimed to maximize profits at what seemed like any cost. Keep you addicted and scrolling to increase that ad revenue.
The idea was: how do we flip the script and make it for-people rather than for-profit? Prioritize people making healthy connections with others who share interests, rather than making people doom scroll. Instead of them monetizing you, you monetize you.
These major social platforms are pulling in hundreds of billions of dollars annually that go right to their owners and shareholders. How cool would it be if the majority of those profits went right back to the users?
So that's the vision. We aren't even David in David vs Goliath, it'll be a huge uphill battle to pull people away from their go-to platforms that know exactly how to keep them addicted. But I think it's worth a try.
